Flying Broom Women’s Communication and Research Association together with its Bulgarian partner Community Center Chitalishte LIK-1959 with their project the “Who Left/What Behind?” aims at addressing gender-based issues through arts and seeking to promote gender equality, especially in modern arts, from the point that arts is a valuable arena of struggle as long as it questions the aesthetic and the social at the same time. The project came about from the need for developing a common understanding in modern arts between Turkey and Bulgaria through cultural cooperation. The 12-month project will be carried out concurrently in both locales and question the centralization of arts in Sofia and Istanbul on the basis of intercultural communication.
